A Biography of Roy Millar
Roy was born on The Wirral, Cheshire. His connection with the areas he has written
about started when he trained in the Royal Airforce Police at RAF Pershore in 1948.
Upon being demobbed, he married his wife Barbara, who he met whilst in Pershore. They
then lived for a short period in cheshire.
He took up an appointment in the Insurance industry in Evesham and after a few years
achieved management positions, which took him to various parts of the country, but
the larger part of his career was spent in Worcestershire.
In 1985 he opted for early retirement and settled in Malvern in 1988. Always interested
in History, he was able to develop his interest in churches further. It was at the
suggestion of a friend that he started to write about some of the places he has visited
in the counties of Worcestershire, Gloucestershire, Herefordshire and Monmouthshire.
Roy has written two books, the first in 2004 entitled 'The Village, the Church and
the Pub' and just finished the second imminently due to be published.
