Hay on Wye in Herefordshire Accommodation Hotels Cottages Inns and Pubs
As to be expected from being one of the most visited villages in the Royal Forest of Dean and the Wye Valley, Hay on Wye has a good variety of accommodation in the form of hotels, B&B's, holiday cottages and inns. The village has also a good selection of restaurants and tea shops.
The Old Black Lion is privately owned and personally managed by the resident proprietor
Dolan Leighton who very much looks forward to welcoming you as her guest
This colourful 17th Century Inn, parts of which date back to the 1300's, is situated close to what was known as the Lion Gate, one of the original entrances to the old walled town of Hay-on-Wye.
The original exposed timber beams exude historical charm and atmosphere and it is reputed that Oliver Cromwell stayed at the Inn whilst the Roundheads beseiged Hay Castle, which was then a loyalist stronghold.
The Old Black Lion offers a choice of 10 quality en-suite bedrooms, all of which are non-smoking, and have recently been sympathetically and tastefully refurbished to a very high standard providing all modern amenities including our famous teddy bears.
All bedrooms have direct dial telephones, hairdryers, colour televisions, tea & coffee making facilities.
Tariff - Single Rooms from £ 42.50 and Double Rooms from £ 85.00

Kilverts nestles in the centre of Hay-on-Wye, the 'Book Capital' of Britain, surrounded by glorious countryside
Many outdoor activities are available for those who do not wish to visit the numerous book, antique and craft shops in the town, although it would be a shame to miss out on them.
During the summer months, clients can take full advantage of the 'Kilverts Garden', which is one of the best kept secrets of Hay, 1/2 acre of lawns and flower beds that burst into bloom from Easter onwards. The pond & fountain area is a good place to hide and take advantage of that book you bought.
On the front of the hotel Kilverts have tables on the terrace and pavement for those who just like to watch the world go by with a cappuccino, fine ale or a glass of our large selection of wines.
At Kilverts we endeavour to provide a complete service in all areas having eleven en-suite bedrooms available; all have tea / coffee making facilities, TV, trouser press, hair dryer. Laundry facilities and room service (at a nominal charge) are available to make your stay as pleasant and relaxed as possible.
Kilverts deluxe double rooms at the top of the building offer spacious accommodation with half tester beds, one of which shows a modest view over the rolling countryside, the other over the town.
All rates include Full English Breakfast & VAT.

Stay in a wonderful listed Georgian family home positioned where the rivers Llynfi and Wye meet
Pull onto a stone gravel circular drive with ample parking shaded by an enormous ancient copper beech tree overlooking the Wye. Enter an oak boarded hallway and climb the gentle oak staircase to your comfortable rooms. Many original features remain.
We offer 2 twin and 1 single room (wash basins) with T.V. and tea/coffee making facilities in each. A cot is available on request.
Breakfast is served in a spacious drawing room with your own river or garden view. Perhaps you will spot a nesting swan, the turquoise flash of a kingfisher, an otter coming up for air or a diving dab chick while you enjoy your
scrumptious breakfast. Afterwards, maybe a wander around the walled gardens and peruse the flower borders.
For the more energetic enjoy a game of tennis on our grass tennis court, launch your own canoe from our jetty and feel free to leave your car here while you paddle the Wye. Have a relaxing stay on your own or bring the children, let them expend their energy on a sunken trampoline and enjoy huge lawns.
