The Speech House Hotel in the Royal Forest of Dean, Gloucestershire was built in 1676 as a hunting lodge for Charles II (his arms can still be seen in the stonework above the exit door to the Verderers Court). It was soon recognised as the administrative centre of the Forest of Dean, and the largest room became the Verderers' Court. It became the place one went to talk or to make a Speech - hence the name "Speech House".

Woodland walks and the local village pub the White Horse are less than a five minute walk away.
The nearest village shop is approximately 1 mile away at Ruspidge, while the nearest supermarket is 2 miles away at Cinderford.

Woodside Cottage from £140-£400 cottage sleeps 2-8

Woodside Cottage is a comfortable furnished cottage set in the beautiful Cannop Valley Nature reserve in the very heart of the Royal Forest Of Dean. Walk out of the garden gate into oak woodlands. Woodside Cottage has a large fenced garden complete with barbeque and garden furniture. Watch the birds feed at the bird feeders, woodpeckers and nuthatches are some of the regular visitors which can be seen feeding through the dining room window.
The cottage is 100 yards from the start of the cycle track and the cycle hire centre, there is a storage shed for those who wish to bring there own cycles. The start of the Sculpture Trail and the Beechenhurst picnic area is approximately 10 minutes walk through the woods.The town of Coleford lies only 3 miles away, Cinderford 4 mails away.

Wainlete - a haven of tranquillity

Wainlete is a very well equipped spacious one bedroom cottage originally built c. 1700, restored and extended to provide a high standard of accommodation. It is located on a quiet country lane in a row of four cottages, with parking outside the front door. We welcome you to a haven of tranquillity - away from the hubbub of modern life, a real ‘cottage’ feel but with a home from home range of amenities and facilities.

The cottage comprises:

Open fireplace with basket of logs provided, Sofa, easy chairs, dining table, TV and stereo with i-Pod docking station. Plenty of CDs, DVDs, board games and books, and an information folder containing details of local attractions, walks and ideas for days out.

Fully equipped, with quarry tiled flooring, washing machine, gas cooker, fridge, microwave, door leading out to the courtyard garden. You will find everyday store cupboard items provided: salt/pepper/herbs/cooking oil/tea towels etc

Downstairs Cloakroom - With low level W.C. and extractor fan.

Lounge/Diner - With colour television, video, radio and DVD player.  This room can be used to accommodate 1 or 2 persons on folding beds if required.

FIRST FLOOR

Bathroom - With over-bath shower.

Main Bedroom - This is a double-bedded room equipped with a colour television.

Bedroom Two - This is a twin- bedded room, also equipped with a colour television and DVD player.

Bedroom Three - This is a small single bedroom, ideally for use as a children’s room but can accommodate an adult if required.

GENERAL

Duvets, bed linen and towels are provided and gas and electricity is included in the rental cost. The house is served by gas central heating. The garden area is enclosed both front and rear and some picnic furniture is provided.

There is off road parking for one vehicle near to the rear of the property.

Our holiday lets normally operate on a weekly basis but shorter breaks may also be available.

The property is available from 3 pm on the day your holiday begins and you must vacate by 10-30 am on the day of departure.

We pride ourselves that you will find the property clean, comfortable, well equipped and in a good state of repair so we ask you to treat it with respect and leave it in the same good order.

Smoking within the house is not permitted and pets are not accepted unless by special arrangement.

Off peak £175 per week to £375 during peak times. A 10% reduction is available for the second week if your holiday is of two weeks duration. A completed booking form together with a 20% non refundable deposit is required when you book .The balance together with the £50 indemnity charge falls due 4 weeks prior to the first day of the hire.
