The Royal Lodge at Symonds Yat East has an idyllic setting in the heart of the Wye Valley in an area of outstanding natural beauty where the River Wye cuts a swathe through a wooded gorge on the edge of the spectacular Royal Forest of Dean.

The hotel is nestled just below Symonds Yat Rock and stands exclusively in grounds of almost 5 acres overlooking the river. It has terraced gardens of magnolia trees and a well established wisteria.

The Royal Lodge has 20 en - suite bedrooms which are arranged to take advantage of our unique position on the edge of the River Wye and make the most of the views so that every room faces the tranquil river. WELCOME to Garth Cottage
On the banks of the River Wye, Symonds Yat East, hidden away in the Forest of Dean.

We are a small family owned guest house on the banks of the River Wye facing south-west,
500ft below the famous Yat Rock.
The River Wye is a salmon and coarse fishing river and Garth Cottage commands a fine view
of the three counties, Gloucestershire, Herefordshire and Monmouthshire.

Most visitors are lovers of the countryside and wildlife. A stroll through the woodlands and along the riverbank will reveal many species of wild flowers, butterflies, dragonflies and birds - the Peregrine Falcon and Kingfisher to name but two. For the more energetic there is walking, canoeing, climbing and riding.

Garth Cottage has a restaurant, residents bar, riverside conservatory and patio and in addition,
a comfy lounge, with a communal television.

All the four rooms (2 double, 2 twin) feature a great view of the River Wye, all furnished and detailed with personal touches to help your stay feel like a home-from-home, All en-suite and centrally-heated, with tea and coffee making facilities and hair dryers.
With great views of the river, Garth Cottage has its own boat mooring, fishing and car parking (with an optional car valeting service). No holiday at Symonds Yat is complete without visits to the Cathedrals of Hereford, Worcester and Gloucester, and some of the many castles of the Welsh Marches. For those who enjoy mountain scenery and walking, the Black Mountains, Brecon Beacons and Malvern Hills are all within easy travelling distance.

Symonds Yat East has been a popular destination for visitors for centuries partly due to the ancient hand pulled ferry which operates outside our front door and partly for the multitude of activities available locally on and off the river.

Rose Cottage has three beautifully appointed en-suite double bedrooms all with superb river views. All our rooms are equipped with tea and coffee making facilities and a colour television should you ever tire of the scenery.

We welcome well behaved dogs but regret that Rose Cottage is unsuitable for children under the age of 16

Symonds Yat Rock Lodge apartments

An Enchanting Countryside with rolling hills above Symonds Yat provide the perfect setting for your stay, whether you like exciting activities or a quiet stroll admiring the views. Access to the forest couldn’t be easier. Footpaths opposite the Lodge meander through the trees and within only a short stroll you are treated to the whole breathtaking panorama of the Wye Valley.

Our beautiful newly built lodge apartments offer a contemporary open plan style. Each apartment is centrally heated and has a bathroom or shower room with toilet, wash basin and shaver point. The kitchen is fully equipped with hob, oven, refrigerator, dishwasher and microwave oven. The lounge area has good quality furnishings with colour t.v., dining table and chairs. There is an attractive open plan staircase that leads from the lounge to the sleeping platform above. The lounge has access to a patio area that has stunning views over the rolling hills to the rear of the lodge. Bed linen and towels are provided and energy and heating cost is included. Ample free parking is available at the front of the apartments. A washing and tumble dry facility is available and storage of bicycles can all be accommodated on request.

The Saracens Head is a family run inn situated alongside the River Wye at Symonds Yat

The Saracens Head serve good food and beverages in a relaxed atmosphere as well as offering riverside accommodation all year around.

The Saracens Head also have two new superior rooms in, the Boathouse annexe, which offer more space and beautiful views down the valley.

The Saracens Head accommodation consists of nine standard rooms within the inn itself and two superior rooms in the Boathouse annexe.

For guests with children, they have a family room avaliable which sleeps up to two adults and two children.

The Saracens Head double/twin rooms start from £70 per room per night which includes bed and breakfast for two. Or, if you are looking to stay during the week (Sunday - Thursday inclusive) you can take advantage of The Saracens Head lower mid-week tariffs.

All of The Saracens Head rooms are en-suite, centrally heated and tastefully decorated with antique pine furniture. With each having a private telephone, radio/alarm clock and tea & coffee making facilities.
