Leominster in Herefordshire Accommodation Hotels Cottages Inns and Pubs
As to be expected from being one of the many visited villages in the Royal forest of Dean, Leominster has a good variety of accommodation in the form of hotels, B&B's, holiday cottages and inns. The village has also a good selection of restaurants and tea shops.
The hotel is privately owned,
part of a small group of hotels which share similar characteristics and values.
The Royal Oak began life in the 1700's as a coaching house, a welcome stop on the long journey between London and Wales. It now wears many different 'hats"; comfortable hotel; cosy bar with open fire; high quality restaurant; fully serviced venue for weddings and corporate events.
The hotel is very much part of the fabric of Leominster. The town itself has much to interest the passing traveler but is also an excellent base from which to explore the many rural delights of Herefordshire and surrounding counties.
With the benefit of substantial recent refurbishment there has never been a better time to experience the delights of this historic and atmospheric hotel.
Accommodation
One of the aspects hotel guests like about the Royal Oak is that ours is not the 'template' design common to so many hotel chains where the corridors are never ending and the rooms identical. Visitors like the character of our hotel, the labyrinth of stairs and halls and our rooms, all with their own character. We now have an interesting selection of rooms with something to offer most guests. A number of recently refurbished rooms stand comparison with the décor and facilities of leading hotels. Others are still to receive this ‘treatment" but are still comfortable and perhaps place a lesser strain on the wallet. All will ensure a good night’s rest ahead of the demands of tomorrow!

Stay in a Border Oak house. The house was built at the end of the the 1990's, yet from the outside it looks as if it could have been built in the sixteenth century.
Inside you get all the character of oak beams and log burners. Combine this with the benefits of modern plumbing and insulation and we really have got the best of both worlds.
The house and cottages are set in five acres of riverside meadows, most of which you are free to walk in. They overlook the River Lugg and their gardens border the banks of the river.

WELCOME TO HIGHFIELD - the home of twins Catherine and Marguerite Fothergill
Highfield is a very comfortable house that was built around 1901. It stands in an acre of garden surrounded by open farmland, with views of distant hills in Wales and Shropshire, just 1.5 miles along the Ivington Road from the old market town of Leominster in Herefordshire.

The house is centrally heated but we do provide convector heaters in the rooms should extra heating be necessary.
At Highfield cooking is not "pretentious" or "gimmicky". They like food and care about how it is produced and prepared. They cook classic dishes with popular international flavours if desired, but also good traditional English fayre and, as they are in the middle of a farming community, concentrate on using ingredients produced in the county.
Situated in a peaceful rural location, this former 17th Century Farmhouse has an attractive garden, and retains many original features, including exposed beams and open fireplaces.
The bedrooms are comfortable and spacious, with fine furniture and lots of thoughtful extras. Rooms are en-suite and have TV’s, tea/coffee making facilities, hairdryers etc.
Guests will be treated to a delicious English breakfast cooked with excellent local produce and our own eggs.
