It was soon recognised as the administrative centre of the Forest of Dean, and the largest room became the Verderers' Court. It became the place one went to talk or to make a Speech - hence the name "Speech House".

Here the patient and quiet walker can see rare birds like Goshawks, Kites and Wrynecks, and at Symonds Yat, the Peregrines, that every year raise their young on the sheer cliffs over-looking the River Wye. While deeper into the forest you may be lucky enough to see some of the many Deer, Badgers and Foxes that abound. If you’re really lucky (if that’s the right word) you may even get to see one of the fabled “Big Cats” that are being seen more and more.

Forest Road is in Milkwall, in the heart of the Forest of Dean.

Forest Road MilkwallIt makes an ideal base for a long weekend, walking or cycling around the forest and is situated just 5 minutes walk from a public path leading to the main forest trails.

The house is semi-detached, with two bedrooms, a living room and Kitchen / Diner. One bedroom has a double bed and the other has a bunk bed, sleeping two.

The living room sofa also folds out to make a comfortable double bed. The bathroom includes an electric shower and the house has central heating.

Welcome to No.11 High Beech for a Relaxing Break

One of the many rural hamlets in the area is Edge End, with stunning woodland walks, on your doorstep. The market town of Coleford is only a short drive away and there are two Golf Courses, a Cinema and a leisure centre only a short distance away. Why not come and spend a relaxing break. Sleeps 7.

Kitchen - With gas cooker, fridge, freezer, micro-wave oven, electric kettle, toaster, grill, and a good supply of crockery and glassware.

Utility Room - With automatic washer/dryer, iron, ironing board and dishwasher.

Downstairs Cloakroom - With low level W.C. and extractor fan.

Lounge/Diner - With colour television, video, radio and DVD player.  This room can be used to accommodate 1 or 2 persons on folding beds if required.

FIRST FLOOR

Bathroom - With over-bath shower.

Main Bedroom - This is a double-bedded room equipped with a colour television.

Bedroom Two - This is a twin- bedded room, also equipped with a colour television and DVD player.

Bedroom Three - This is a small single bedroom, ideally for use as a children’s room but can accommodate an adult if required.

GENERAL

Duvets, bed linen and towels are provided and gas and electricity is included in the rental cost. The house is served by gas central heating. The garden area is enclosed both front and rear and some picnic furniture is provided.

There is off road parking for one vehicle near to the rear of the property.

Our holiday lets normally operate on a weekly basis but shorter breaks may also be available.

The property is available from 3 pm on the day your holiday begins and you must vacate by 10-30 am on the day of departure.

We pride ourselves that you will find the property clean, comfortable, well equipped and in a good state of repair so we ask you to treat it with respect and leave it in the same good order.

Smoking within the house is not permitted and pets are not accepted unless by special arrangement.

Letting terms

Off peak £175 per week to £375 during peak times. A 10% reduction is available for the second week if your holiday is of two weeks duration. A completed booking form together with a 20% non refundable deposit is required when you book .The balance together with the £50 indemnity charge falls due 4 weeks prior to the first day of the hire.
