The Speech House Hotel in the Royal Forest of Dean, Gloucestershire was built in 1676 as a hunting lodge for Charles II (his arms can still be seen in the stonework above the exit door to the Verderers Court). Woodside Cottage is a comfortable furnished cottage set in the beautiful Cannop Valley Nature reserve in the very heart of the Royal Forest Of Dean. Walk out of the garden gate into oak woodlands. Watch the birds feed at the bird feeders, woodpeckers and nuthatches are some of the regular visitors which can be seen feeding through the dining room window.
